Impact of Christ - 2 - Education

One of the important contributions of Christians is education. But why did Christians start schools ? Because they believed that God has disclosed himself through the Bible. You need to be literate in order to read it. So they started schools , colleges and universities. Most of the top universities in the world were at their inception Christian universities , with Christian logos and slogans which still persist inspite of their departure from the original faith over the years. Hardvard , Oxford , Cambridge , Princeton were all Christian universities and still have very strong theology and divinity programs . Many world leaders , scientists , noble laureats have emerged from these institutions. These institutes were the forerunners in scientific research and discoveries. They have changed the world for better and still churn out numerous graduates who impact the world and humanity in different ways.

There are numerous schools started by Christian missionaries in India . Many leaders , scientists , activists and inspirational souls were the product of these schools. English education , which has made united India and taken India to such heights of prosperity and economic boom is still being served mainly through Christian institutions across the subcontinent. Almost every Christian denomination starts english schools through which numerous people of  India learn all their subjects in english. India has been immensely blessed by the work of Christian missionaries who started these schools to serve the people of India. India is a good place for outsourcing precisely because it has a english education system , provided mainly by Christian institutions. One of the important aspect of Christian education system was their promotion of education for the girl child on par with the male. Many special schools for girls were started by Christians and this has immensely changed India for the better. The local culture and custom were very restrictive when it came to female education. That mind set changed and now Indians freely send their girl child co-education schools atleast in urban centers.

If you have anyone to thank for, thank Christ. It because of him and his teachings that Christian missionaries came to India and started these institutions. Let me post the achievement of a pioneering missionary from Germany , Mr.Ziegenbalg , who came and impacted my part of the world and my father's side of my family and thus me also. My father studied in the lutheran boarding  school started by these missionaries.

Christ impacts the world and it's time the world and India recognizes it  and thank him for it.
