Contradiction Clarified - Abiather or Abimelech ?

Who was the high priest when David ate shew bread? Abiather or Abimelech ?

Mark 2 : 26
In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions."

Skeptics say that Jesus committed an error in this verse. Jesus says "in the days of Abiather the high priest.... David ate shew bread". But the high priest during the time was not Abiather but Abimelech.

Answer :
Abiather was the son of Abimelech and became high priest after Abimelech his father during the reign of King David.

Jesus did not say that Abiather was the high priest at that time. Jesus just said , "In the days of Abiather the high priest" , which means "during the lifetime of Abiather the High priest"  It is like saying ,"When King David was a boy". When King David was a boy he was not a king , but it is right to say that  when King David was a boy, such an incident happened and it would be perfectly understood. No one will say ,"Ah , but David was not a King when he was boy?".
In the same way , Jesus says, "In the days of abiather ,the high priest ...." which does not mean Abiather was a high priest at that time .
